Plan Me

February caught me unaware again.

It’s such a short month that it’s easy to miscalculate your working schedule and I realised I’d given myself two less days than I anticipated to hit a design deadline. Fortunately for me, the creative juices were flowing so I got the job in early but I had to give myself a proper talking to. Planning is important in business so try to think ahead otherwise you’ll end up in knots. Spring is round the corner – have you got your March, April & May campaigns in mind?…it’s a good time of year for fresh thinking and fresh starts and a golden opportunity to market yourself. It’s no coincidence that the housing market makes a sprint around now and the garden centre starts to get busy on a Sunday again. Those drab and flakey bulbs hold such promise of splendid colour in the coming months…let those thoughts incentivise you. I just think that everyone is more open to change and growth on a personal level, as well as in a professional capacity, so think about what you can offer your customers and what changes you can make to kick start your business.

However, it’s not all about money making. There’s no point driving yourself if you continue to put yourself last on the list.

‘Time out’ is so vital to your well being and creativity, so, tempting as it is to ‘power through’, remind yourself to take ten minutes in the sunshine or book that well earned massage. I’ve been lucky enough to work with some incredible local ladies recently that I cannot recommend highly enough. If you’ve promised yourself you’ll start yoga… do it now… try www.cherrytreeyoga.co.uk or why not try some Craniosacral Therapy with Natasha at www.carshaltonyogashala.co.uk. The restorative effects of aromatherapy or reflexology are far reaching. Dawn at www.anewdawntherapy.co.uk can explain more. Join a craft class…if it has to be an evening, well, make it happen!. Sutton College have a great variety of creative classes including pottery, watercolor painting, printmaking and stained glass decoration. https://www.suttoncollege.ac.uk

We are programmed to believe that time for ourselves is somehow selfish..not true!. If you don’t value yourself then how can you add value to your business.

I’m off to book for ‘hot stones’…then I’m back on that logo design!
